Fall Reading Week Stakeholder Survey
The SSMU is conducting this survey to collect feedback from stakeholders on the possible way forward for a fall reading break at McGill.

Two options have been identified as solutions to maintain contact hours while making a fall reading break possible:

1. Starting classes a week earlier in the fall semester.
2. Having longer class times, and a longer teaching day.

The Enrollment and Student Affairs Advisory Committee (ESAAC) created a Sub-Committee on Fall Reading Break (SFRB). The SFRB has created a consultation document to catalogue the considerations associated with each of these proposed solutions. If you have not yet seen this document, please review it before you complete this survey. It is available here:

Fall Reading Week Solutions:
If it were feasible to implement a Fall Break without excessive disruption to McGill's academic activities, would you be in favour of implementing a Fall Break? *
Strongly Opposed
Strongly in Favour
**Start 1 Week Earlier**
Description: Starting classes a week earlier in the fall semester. This would mean that the semester would begin the last week of August instead of after Labour Day.

Please consult the ESAAC SFRB Consultation document for considerations associated with this solution. It is available here (Pages 2 to 3) :

**Add minutes to sessions**
Description: Increasing class time by a few minutes to fit 13 weeks of teaching hours into 12. This would mean potentially starting classes earlier and ending later.

Please consult the ESAAC SFRB Consultation document for considerations associated with this solution. It is available here (Pages 4 to 6) :
